Literacy EDU 958 Enhancing Literature with Technology

Eduspire’s courses are offered by Wilson College as individual 3-credit graduate-level courses, and most courses can also be taken as part of the Master of Educational Technology (MET) degree program.

Enhance the literature that is used in the classroom through the use of makerspace and design challenges, coding and robotics, digital resources, QR codes and Augmented Reality. A common theme throughout the course is effective integration of the 4C’s: Creativity, Collaboration, Communication and Critical Thinking.

Participants will be introduced to high-quality literature that can be used to bring student learning to the next level. Literature will include books written by both classic and new authors, showcasing real-world problems that spark extended learning activities. Participants will be encouraged to further research books that blend with their school curriculum and develop projects and activities to be used in the classroom. Through the use and development of many new technology learning tools and applications, students will learn to extend literature through makerspace activities, design challenges, coding, QR codes, and augmented reality. Block and color coding will be demonstrated with the robots Dash, Sphero, Bee Bot and Ozobot. This course is perfect for elementary teachers, reading specialists, librarians, STEM educators or teachers of gifted students.
