Being an effective teacher requires a variety of skills but one of the most important is motivating students to learn. Once students are motivated, they will spend more time on their tasks and complete those tasks more effectively. In this course, the learner will explore the major theories of motivation, the teacher’s role in encouraging and promoting student motivation, and the strategies that can be implemented to develop a student’s mind-set toward learning. Course takers will examine learning approaches and create a classroom environment that promotes highly motivated learning by successfully integrating technology. In addition, students will learn how to set up the classroom physically, socially, emotionally, and intellectually so the environment itself is motivating to students. Using the techniques from this course, learners will be able to motivate even the most reluctant student to come to class ready to learn and integrate technology in an appropriate and meaningful way.
*Participants in this course will have several mandatory, synchronous, video conference sessions. The dates and times are listed on each course registration page.
