MET/ITS Program Frequently Asked Questions

There is no recommended order, with two exceptions:

  1. Many MET students recommend taking EDU 924: Digital Portfolios toward the beginning of your program (if that is a course that connects with your personal and professional goals or if you are pursuing the ITS certification).
  2. All of your 8-core courses must be completed prior to the start of your Capstone courses.

Your Eduspire advisor should be able to help you pinpoint some courses that will connect with your personal and professional goals. Here is a list of course descriptions if you want to find out more about each specific course.

Here are the requirements for the ePortfolio. It is recommended that you build your portfolio as you progress through your courses.

You need to register your completed coursework through the TIMS system. Upon completion of the Instructional Technology Specialist (ITS) Certification Program requirements, students will need to apply for the ITS certification (fee required by Department of Education). Please inform the Director of Graduate Education Programs (eric.michael@wilson.edu) when application is complete. Apply here for the Instructional Technology Specialist Certification through the Teacher Information Management System.

Those enrolled in the ITS practicum are expected to document 75 hours showcasing their ITS course learning. These hours should take place around or in front of their peers. The hours breakdown is as follows: 15 hours of elementary work, 15 hours of middle school work, 15 hours of high school work, 15 hours of special ed work, and 15 hours in any of those locations.

The Online Instruction Endorsement is an add-on to your current teaching certification. Once you have completed the needed coursework, enter the endorsement to your TIMS account for PDE to approve. Please inform the Director of Graduate Education Programs (eric.michael@wilson.edu) when application is complete and submit your logs showcasing your 40 hours of field hours.
